Hi everyone, my name is Andrej and this my first blog post where I will introduce my self and explain why I’m starting blogging.
Let’s meet 😊. As I said my name is Andrej. I live in Vilnius town – capital of Lithuania. For those who don’t ever heard about Lithuania this is a small but very beautiful ~ 3 million people country in the middle of Europe. I encourage you to visit Lithuania as there a lot of amazing places like Vilnius old town, Trakai castle, seaside resort Palanga and much more.
Currently I’m 34 years old. I’m married and have two wonderful sons. For the last 10 years I work in IT as a system administrator. IT is my biggest passion because as for me IT is the world where you every day could learn something new and interesting. Working as IT Pro you should constantly learn and grow your competence in order to be competitive and be able to accept new technological challenges. When you are sysadmin you should be always ready to quickly solve various problems and ensure that they will not occur again. This is like a real life puzzle game and then you solve it in “like a boss” style feeling is amazing. And last, but not least who is the most powerful person in the company? We all know the answer 😈?
Biggest part of my IT carrier I focused on Microsoft based technologies. These are the areas I mostly working on and have good knowledge base:
- Windows server (probably all editions) and all related stuff like AD, GPO, DHCP, DNS, CA, Failover Clusters and etc.
- Hyper-V (have experience with VMware as well)
- Microsoft Data Protection Manager (DPM)
- Scripting: PowerShel, Azure CLI,
- Azure (including ARM templates)
I also a Microsoft certified and currently have these certs:
I have always been and still am a big fan of Microsoft technologies, but when Kubernetes started to conquer the world I decided that it’s time to start to grow my knowledge in Linux as well. To be honest I still don’t feel very strong in Linux, but hope I would be able to help if needed. Same is valid for Kubernetes (probably this is one of the coolest things I have learned in the past years). Kubernetes is one of the main technologies on which I’m really focusing on.
One more thing where I have at least 5 years of experience is Veeam B&R so I believe I might be helpful with Veeam topics as well.
As you probably already understood my blog will be mainly about IT technologies. Here I will share with you my IT experience and things that was helpful for me and could be helpful for you in your IT duties. Why do I need this? As someone said “Sharing is caring”. One more reason for blogging is that this a way how you can collaborate with other peoples who are interested in the same things. Also I think that writing will help me to improve my English skills (please don’t judge me to much for mistakes).
Working in IT is not the only thing I like to do. One of my favorites hobbies is a triathlon. For those who don’t know what it is, triathlon is a combination of three sports swim, bike, run. I discovered this sport a few years ago and I really like it. There are different distances in triathlon, but probably most popular is an IRON MAN (IM). Completing IM means that you should swim 3.9km then bike 180 km and as the cherry on the cake run a marathon 42.2 km. I already completed half IM distance and full IM is on my to do list. Doing three sports is much more funnier than one 😜.
As many others in the world I also really like to travel. I think that traveling is the thing which anyone of us should constantly do because when you travel you freeing your mind you visit new places and can discover things that really could inspire you or even change you live in way you ever can’t imagine. You always meet new peoples from whom you can learn something new. Each trip is always a new adventure. Personally I always comeback from my trips recharged and at least till now I only have positive emotions. I trying to unlock as many countries as I could and my journey is just starting. Currently 16 different countries in my pocket (in many of them i have been 3-4 times).
“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.” – Augustine of Hippo
So you definitely can expect some blog posts about my trips. This year I’m planning to unlock 3 more countries and some of them are really far away from Lithuania.
At the end of this intro post I want to say that I’m always ready to help you in your IT questions and hope that my following posts will be helpful and interesting for you guys. If you have any questions do not hesitate and contact me via social media or email.
Some of you may notice that this site already have been online recently and here were some posts. You are correct this was a beta version just to try out. Recently all infra for site was hosted in Azure on my test subscription. Now I diced migrate everything to my very small home data center so starting everything from scratch. Later I will re post some articles which were popular in previous site version.
Thank you very much for reading and see you soon in the next first technical post.
Best regards, Andrej 🤜🤛
